Estimates and Bookings

How far in advance do I need to book my move?
Although we have a large network of trucks, drivers and labor services, the MoveBuilder service is based on availability. We can normally accommodate short notice moves, but we recommend that you book your move as early as possible to ensure availability.

Will an in-home estimate be required?
There is no need to conduct an in-home moving estimate. Our professionals will take all of your information and answer any moving questions over the phone. They know the right questions to ask to accurately estimate your move size.

How do I know how much space I will need?
Our Move Builders will ask you a specific set of questions to estimate the amount of space your move requires.

What if I need to move on a specific day?
You choose your move-out day and MoveBuilder guarantees delivery on that day. No worries about equipment, labor or driver availability. When you need a guaranteed delivery time at origin or destination or a guaranteed move-in day, choose the MoveBuilder guaranteed moving option.

Can I move on a Sunday?
MoveBuilder currently offers services Monday – Saturday only.

What if my move dates change?
If your schedule changes, your Move Manager will reschedule the movers for the next available date.

If I'm only using the space I need, what goes on the rest of the trailer?
MoveBuilder shipments will only have one residential move per shipment. The remaining space will be filled with commercial shipments such as home electronics, children's toys or other dry goods and household items.

What if I use more or less space than estimated?
Your shipment price will be adjusted after it is loaded. If more space is needed your estimate will increase based on your per-foot rate to reflect the actual footage used. If your estimate was higher than the actual space used, a deduction will be made from the charges for the move.

How might my estimated costs change?
If you use less than estimated, your transportation costs will decrease accordingly. If you choose a packing service, you are only charged for the number and type of boxes actually used.

Why is a charge by shipment size better than charging by weight or hourly?
When price is based on shipment size, it doesn't matter how many hours it takes. There's no overtime pay, or move-day haggling. MoveBuilder estimates your move size based on the number of rooms and the information you provide online and over the phone.

Once we arrive at your home for loading, if the MoveBuilder staff anticipates an incorrect estimate, work will be discontinued until you have the opportunity to approve the revision. You will never be surprised with an increased bill after your belongings are already loaded into the moving trailer.

When is the best time to move?
You can save money by moving on off-peak days or during off-peak months. You can also save by avoiding a move around holidays.

Is there a deposit?
This is a commonly asked moving question and we are pleased to answer no, you never pay a deposit with MoveBuilder.

When and how do I pay for my move?
MoveBuilder accepts all major credit and debit cards. Payment is processed while your move is in transit to your destination.

Transport and Delivery

What size are the trailers?
The trailers used by MoveBuilder are 28 feet long x 8 feet 6 inches wide x 9 feet tall.

How fast can I expect to get my household moved?
MoveBuilder offers fast transit times; move just about anywhere in the U.S. in 2-5 business days.

How do I track my shipment?
You can track your shipment by phone or on-line using the reference number listed on your paperwork. Simply call 888-409-6617 or use the "Track Your Move" box on the web site.

When will my shipment be delivered?
Typically, MoveBuilder shipments moving in the continental U.S. will be delivered within 2-5 business days. This is considerably faster than transit times offered by other full service movers. This is one the features that sets MoveBuilder apart from the crowd. For even faster service, ask about MoveBuilder Guaranteed.

What about loss, damage or theft? Are my goods insured?
If you pack and load the items yourself, they are covered by standard liability at 10 cents per pound per piece. Additional moving insurance may be available through your homeowner's insurance. For full service moving, basic coverage is 60 cents per pound/per piece. Full Value Coverage is also available which offers full repair, replacement or reimbursement.

What is Full Value Coverage?
Full Value Coverage provides for repair, replacement or reimbursement of any items damaged while in MoveBuilder care. Ask your Move Builder for details.

Packing & Loading

Who will pack and load my belongings?
MoveBuilder doesn't use day-laborers. Instead we use experienced crews with a history in the industry and exemplary referrals. They are also trained and knowledgeable about MoveBuilder requirements.

How many people will be sent to complete my move?
The crew size is based on the size of your shipment. Crews of two or more are sent to all jobs based on the size of the shipment.

What does the "packing" service include?
Packing includes putting all items that can be boxed into standard moving boxes. It includes wrapping and padding items if necessary. Custom crating is also available for items that will not fit into a moving box but need extra protection. Custom crating can also be used for smaller items that are of special concern such as collectibles.

How long will it take for packing?
Most households can be packed within a day or less.

What types of materials are used?
Only industry-standard moving boxes will be used to pack your items. For loading purposes, only high quality international-style 3-ply paper padding is used. This is the same material used by the military for transport of items overseas.

What about special items that I am concerned about moving?
Custom crating is suggested for very special items, such as antiques, collectibles etc. The crates are built on-site to specifically accommodate the item.

What does the "Loading/Unloading" service include?
Loading/Unloading includes placing all boxed and unboxed items inside the moving trailer or moving container at your origin location, and removing all boxed and unboxed items from the moving trailer or moving container at your destination location. It also includes basic disassembly and furniture prep (including wrapping and padding) along with basic reassembly at destination with debris removal. All necessary tools such as appliance dollies, straps etc. are provided by our crew.

How long will it take for loading and unloading?
Most households can be loaded within one day. However, if the loading requires additional days, our movers will accommodate you.
