Alexandria, Virginia is the most romantic city in the U.S., according to Amazon.com.
Those looking for love in a new city may want to consider moving to Alexandria, Virginia. The city topped Amazon.com's annual ranking of the most romantic cities in the U.S, the company announced.
The list, created in celebration of Valentine's Day, is based on a compilation of sales data for romance novels, relationship books, romantic comedies, Barry White albums and sexual wellness products since the start of the new year. The company considers the per capita sales in cities with populations higher than 100,000 residents. In addition to Alexandria, other cities in the top five include Knoxville, Tennessee, Orlando and Miami, Florida and Ann Arbor, Michigan. The cities with the fewest purchases in those categories were El Monte, California, Paterson, New Jersey and Miami Gardens, Florida. However, Miami Gardens is an outlier for its state, since four of the top 20 romantic cities were in Florida. Two cities on the list may be the prime moving destinations for single women. Both Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, in addition to being in the top 20 cities for romance, also made Marie Claire's list of the top five cities for single women, based on a single female to single male ratio.
