A recent feature on the Forbes website helps users track moving patterns across the U.S. map.
With the recent announcement of U.S. Census results across the country, some states have had surprising changes in population. With massive population loss is some cities, many are wondering where all those people are moving to. Forbes has created an interactive map to assist with answering that question.

The company has created a map to visualize the moves that people made during 2008 - when 10 million Americans reportedly moved from one side of the country to another, according to the group.

The interactive platform allows users to click on any county in the U.S. to see the moving patterns to or from the area. Red lines going to other places on the map indicate individuals moving away from that original location, whereas black lines indicate a net movement towards that county.

The brightness of the line also represents the number of people who made that specific move, from ten individuals to over 200. According to Forbes, the IRS does not report on moves from one area to another that were made by fewer than 10 individuals.

This site may help answer the questions of many Detroit residents who are wondering where nearly 25 percent of their fellow city-dwellers fled to. According to recent Census reports, the Detroit population fell by 237,493 people over the last decade.
