Beachfront property in Southern Florida can be bought for surprisingly low prices
Florida has always been a popular tourist destination, but a new report could encourage some to relocate there permanently.
Deerfield Beach in South Florida topped CNN Money Magazine's list of cities where homes are most affordable. Properties in the beachfront town sell for a median price of just $67,000, an eye-popping price tag for an idyllic locale that's also near major commercial and entertainment areas in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, said the report. Deltona, Florida, which is closer to Orlando, also made the top 10, coming in fourth. Homes in that city sell for a median price of $80,473. Indiana also had two top-10 cities: Lafayette took second place and Fishers came in ninth. San Antonio made the list at number three and Spring, Texas came in at the five spot. Glendale and Avondale, Arizona were back-to-back at six and seven. Homes in Bolingbrook, Illinois were the eighth most affordable and Des Moines, Iowa rounded out the top ten. Florida and Texas in particular have become increasingly popular destinations for relocators because neither state has an income tax, reported Forbes.
