Residents of San Francisco spend more on personal care and physical fitness than any other city in the U.S.
Residents of San Francisco are the most into themselves, according to the news group The Daily Beast.
The source ranked the top 20 cities across America based on the amount they spend on personal care purchases each year as well as other variables involving physical appearance. Personal spending, for the purposes of their research, included money spent at the spa, on gym memberships and on health and beauty products and services. The source also researched the percentage of people within the city that were neither considered overweight nor obese, by using statistics provided by the Centers for Disease Control. San Francisco placed first, according to the news source, with an average of $111 per month spent on personal care. Also the source said 50.3 percent of the city's population is not overweight, and 20.4 percent of the population belongs to a gym. Boston came in second, with an average personal spending amount of $106 per month, 44.6 percent of residents not overweight and 23.2 percent having a gym membership. Combined with San Francisco's ranking as one of Main Street's top 20 cities surviving the recession, many may be considering packing up the moving van and heading to the Golden State. More News |
