Those who find a new job are relocating at pre-recession rates
The number of people who had to relocate for a job in a North Carolina region hasn't changed much in the past few years.
According to a survey by career management firm Right Management, the percentage of people in the Raleigh-Durham region who had to move for a new job was about the same as pre-recession levels, reported the Triangle Business Journal. About 18 percent of mid- to senior-level job seekers had to relocate, said the report. That was higher than the national rate of 15 percent but lower than the statewide rate of 23 percent. Right Management's regional vice president, Russ Settles, told the Journal that the findings were "reassuring," saying that consistency between pre- and post-recession data shows that people are still finding jobs even if they're not nearby. He also advised that job seekers "Carefully determine what's most important in your life. For some, relocating may not be desirable, but for others it may be a wonderful adventure." Anyone who needs to move for a new job would also be advised to research moving companies before making the haul to their new home.
