Improvements to a home's landscaping can increase its resale value and make it more appealing to buyers.
According to data from the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors, home sales in the Buffalo area jumped 18 percent in July compared to July 2010, as prices set a record for the region. For residential condo and townhouse sales, the BNAR reported a 5 percent increase in average price between 2011 and 2010, as well as a 24 percent growth in dollar volume in sales.
Trade group CEO, John Leonardi, told Buffalo News the July numbers are a good sign for the housing market, which plays a key role in the recovery of the overall economy. "I think people are going to get comfortable with the erratic nature of what's coming out of Washington," Leonardi told the news source. "They realize this is how it is, but they want to take advantage of homeownership." While sales in many markets are on the rise, there still remains a high national inventory of available and distressed properties for sale in the clogged housing market. For homeowners looking to distinguish themselves from other sellers, the Western Star Bay Area and Sacramento Nursery have identified different ways sellers can increase the resale value of their homes, such as by upgrading landscaping. According to Sally Painter, owner of the nursery, perennials in bloom can give properties an extra burst of color each year, while sunny, light-colored flowers, such as Mexican daisies, are drought-tolerant and attract butterflies. "Just by adding some landscaping improvements to your yard, you can give the home an inviting touch that will get buyers through your door," Painter said. More News |
