Homeowners in Connecticut can receive professional advice at a statewide workshop.
Homeowners in Connecticut who are struggling to make their mortgage payments can attend a free event to help modify their loans and prevent foreclosure. Mortgage lenders will offer homeowners advice, and provide information on state and federal assistance programs while mortgage counselors will meet with borrowers for one-on-one consultations.
BusinessWeek reported the event is sponsored by the offices of the governor, attorney general and banking department. Homeowners should bring various documents to the event if they wish to modify their home loans, including federal tax returns. According to NBC Connecticut, The Mortgage Assistance Event aims to help more than 26,000 families from across the state who are facing default. Howard Pitkin, Connecticut's Banking Commissioner, told the source that the event will help borrowers understand their options and be proactive in preventing foreclosure. "They'll know when they leave here that they'll have a single point of contact with their lender and they'll know what the next step is going to be," Pitkin said. More News |
