A new complex will provide housing for veterans
A new apartment complex in California will offer affordable housing to military veterans who are currently without a home.
Westside Residence Hall II. will join its original incarnation in Inglewood and provide a safe and stable living environment for homeless veterans, said developers at Cloudbreak Inglewood. Residents at the complex will receive support services from U.S. VETS, the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, and Inglewood Adult School. On-site job training, educational services, counseling and rehabilitation will also be offered. Cloudbreak will construct the facility with about $34.9 million in funding from the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, California Housing & Development Infill Infrastructure Program, City of Inglewood Redevelopment Agency, and Wilshire State Bank. The complex will consist of 148 studio apartments and 48 single room occupancies with shared dining and living areas. The developer has created other similar housing complexes for homeless veterans and families around Southern California. Seniors and military veterans who currently live in single-family homes and require special care may want to consider moving into assisted-living facilities. Downsizing to such a complex would allow them the benefit of the services they need without having to maintain a larger living space.
