A good real estate agent is hard to come by
Finding a quality real estate agent is a difficult process on its own, but it's made particularly hard by the increasingly guarded real estate industry.
Clients should be able to access an agent's performance-based evaluations, but those metrics are kept out of the public eye because it would ultimately cost many real estate associations money, reported AOL Real Estate. Instead, most consumers are forced to rely on biased advertising. In order to make the best decision on who to hire for their real estate transactions, clients need to find an agent with experience selling similar homes in that area and who has sold plenty of homes in the past two years. Agents with a positive track record in marketing a home and selling one for close to the client's listed price are also preferred. These evaluations are mostly kept secret by local real estate associations and Multiple Listing Services. Giving consumers the tools to avoid bad agents could cost those groups money because they collect member fees from all agents, said the report. It's bad news for movers, since relocating to or from a home can be made simpler with a quality agent.
