Following certain steps may increase the chances of successfully selling a home.
An eagerness to move has led some to put their homes on the market and begin the home selling process rather hastily. However, Zillow emphasizes that in order to make a successful sale, homeowners need to know the keys to making a home attractive to potential buyers.
One of the first pieces of advice the source offers is to price the apartment according to the market, not what it was originally worth or may have been in the past. Accurate pricing is key to a house's appeal, as many buyers may not be drawn in if they think a home is more expensive then comparable properties for sale, the source says. Additionally, they warn not to simply consider recently sold homes, but also other homes for sale at the same time. Marketing is of course one of the important aspects of creating awareness about an available home out to potential buyers. However, mistakes such as limiting the audience a home is marketed to and not utilizing web marketing may put a home seller far behind their competition, according to Zillow. Finally, following potential buyers around the home during a showing, the source suggests, may make them feel uncomfortable and inhibit them from imagining themselves and their families in the home. Allowing them to search the home with their real estate agent may be more conducive to making a sale. Following these tips may give home sellers an advantage in an already difficult market, in which existing home sales were down 2.8 percent year-over-year in February, according to the National Association of Realtors.
