Housing prices on the rise in the hub
Median home prices have increased in 24 of 26 tracked metropolitan markets, according to Altos Research. The housing market historically improves this time of year, and median prices have been increasing from week-to-week for months, according to the study. The national index median price was up 1.82 percent in April, from $432,307 to $440,194.

Double-digit price increases on properties were seen in Austin, Boston and Philadelphia. The New York and Tampa markets remained flat for the month, while San Francisco had the largest price increase, jumping 4.87 percent in April, according to the study. The only two cities that showed a decrease in price were Las Vegas and New York, with Las Vegas dropping the most at 1.05 percent.

Boston had the most significant increase in available properties in April, adding 19.18 percent to the market, according to the study. Two out of the top five cities with increases in properties, San Francisco and Washington D.C., also saw prices rise.
