Mayoral Alliance formed to strengthen local housing markets.
Today, the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Wells Fargo announced the formation of a national alliance focused on foreclosure prevention, property disposition, home ownership promotion and community development.
The alliance plans to utilize Wells Fargo's strategies to combat housing challenges through outreach initiatives aimed at educating and connecting mayors and citizens to ideas and action plans. There will be three regional mayoral forums a year where mayors will exchange ideas and learn what efforts are being made to aid the housing industry by Wells Fargo housing industry experts. Tom Cochran, CEO and executive director of The U.S. Conference of Mayors, said it is important for the public and private sectors to work together. "Wells Fargo and our members share a deep-rooted commitment to sustainable home ownership," he said. In 2009, Wells Fargo established its Leading the Way Home program to promote responsible lending, keep people in their homes and prevent future foreclosures. The lender uses active calling and letter writing campaigns, workshops and regional outreach events to help customers find solutions to their housing problems. Wells Fargo continues to build on its comprehensive home owner assistance programs and work with not-for-profit housing organizations to help low-income families. More News |
