Apartments in Alexandria might appeal to environmentally conscious movers
Eco-conscious homebuyers have the opportunity to move into a new environmentally-friendly apartment complex in Virginia.
The Courts at Huntington Station in Alexandria, Virginia features 202 rental units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. The community's developer, Home Properties, was awarded a Land Conservation Award in April by Fairfax County for promoting environmentally safe and responsible building practices. "What makes The Courts unique is that residents have the opportunity to reduce their individual carbon footprint by using several mass transit options located within close proximity of our community," said Donald Hague, a senior vice president with Home Properties. "We strive to promote green living as it is relevant not only to the environment but the overall well-being of our residents." Renters will also enjoy a number of other green amenities, including units outfitted with Energy Star appliances, recycling capabilities, underground parking, and noise-reducing windows. An outdoor pool, fitness center, and yoga studio promotes healthy living, said the developers. Already, 82 apartments have been leased. The company has begun construction on 219 additional apartments in the community, which are expected to be open in May 2011. Alexandria was number 47 on CNN Money Magazine's top 100 list for best places to live.
