Home construction spending increased in November.
The U.S. Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce recently announced construction spending in November 2011 was 1.2 percent higher than in October, with a seasonally adjusted rate of $807.1 billion compared to $797.4 billion the month before. The November 2011 figures were also 0.5 percent higher than November 2010 numbers of $803 billion.
In addition, spending for the first 11 months of 2011 totaled $724.8 billion in construction spending, 2.5 percent below the $734.6 billion reported for the same period in 2010. Expenditure on private construction in November reached at an annual rate of $522.3 billion, 1 percent above the October rate of $517.3 billion, and residential construction was 2 percent above October's figures. Some organizations are working on providing new homes for those in need. The National Association of Home Builders recently reported Iraq war veteran J.R. Martinez is working with Operation Finally Home to help build homes for vets. Martinez is working to raise awareness of the program through motivational speaking, interviews at networking at the International Builders' Show in February. More News |
