Service and programs at Aegis Living make it 425 Magazine's top retirement facility
A Washington state senior living facility is considered the top place to move to for retired people.
Aegis Living topped 425 Magazine's 2010 list of best retirement facilities. The magazine praised Aegis for allowing seniors to be able to live with dignity and for taking a holistic approach that allows assisted living, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's patients to remain active members of a community. "We are proud to be recognized by our community ... It is just another example of the hard work and compassion our employees bring to our communities," said Aegis chairman and CEO Dwayne Clark. The company is based in Redmond but has 12 facilities located throughout Washington state, including ones in Kirkland, Bothell, and Bellevue. Each facility offers assisted living and memory care, while some also offer retirement community services and hospice residence. There are 35 total communities in Washington, California, and Nevada. Sometimes relocating to a retirement facility is best done when a senior is still physically and emotionally capable of making the move. It can be more rewarding to move as choice rather than a requirement, advised the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.
