The Daily News' move will position it in Lower Manhattan
Two New York-based publications will relocate to an office in Lower Manhattan.
The New York Daily News and U.S. News and World Report will rent two floors in the 25-story tower at 4 New York Place. The publications have shared space at their current home on West 33rd Street since 1995. Company officials expressed excitement regarding the move, which will bring them to the heart of the action in New York's financial district near Wall Street. "We're very much looking forward to the relocation," said Mortimer Zuckerman, who is the chairman of both publications. Employees will be offered modern amenities and first-rate accommodations in the iconic tower, he added. The building's owners, Harbor Group International, said that it was excited that the Daily News would be joining current tenants such as JPMorgan Chase, which leases 75 percent of the building. "It is an honor to have such prestigious publications as major tenants in our building," said CEO Jordan Slone. His company acquired the property six months ago and has brought in additional long-term tenants to fill the building to 85 percent occupancy. It's a positive sign for Downtown, which experienced increasing office vacancies in the first quarter, reported Bloomberg, citing Cushman & Wakefield.
