For military families, moving can be a difficult transition
Moving can be difficult for anyone, but it especially impacts the lives of military workers and the communities that support them.

For many military families around the country, the Army's Base Relocation and Closure Process will bring jarring change and threaten the stability of some communities, reported DailyFinance. Tens of thousands of military personnel will be moving within the next year, with 20 major bases expected to shut down by next September. In the meantime, that means some communities will lose thousands of residents.

Among many other moves nationwide, the U.S. Army Reserve Command and the U.S. Army Forces Command will relocate from Fort McPherson in Atlanta to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, said the report. That relocation alone will bring 40,000 new families to North Carolina - and away from the Atlanta area - over the next few years.

Meanwhile, relocating families are having a tough time finding an affordable home or a home loan in North Carolina, furthering complicating their moving plans, said the report.

Psychologically, experts warn that frequent military relocation can have the hardest impact on children, and parents are advised to keep their children in the loop and abreast of moving plans throughout the process.
