Immigration offices will relocate to downtown Salt Lake City
The Utah division of the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services agency is relocating to a larger office. According to a report by the Deseret News, the agency will take over part of the building at 600 South 200 East, which used to house the Mountain America Credit Union. Renovation is currently taking place, with a move-in date set for next spring. The agency's new offices, signed for a 15-year lease, will comprise about 51,000 square feet of the 100,000 available on the property, said the report. About 45 employees will be relocated from their current office, which is located in Murray, Utah, a city just south of Salt Lake City. The new office will put the agency in a more central location with access to multiple transportation networks and an office that is closer to the population they serve, said the report. Moving an entire office is an even more difficult endeavor than changing homes. The agency will likely turn to a moving company and rent moving trucks to assist them in their relocation.
