Common courtesy can go a long way in the housing market.
According to The New York Times, financial anxiety can transfer into the housing market in the form of rude behavior and a lack of courtesy. With high competition amongst sellers due to a saturated housing market, showing a friendly demeanor could be the differentiating factor that leads to a sold house.
This can be applied to homebuyers as well. Karen Bigos, a broker for Towne Realty Group, told the news source she recently brought some prospective homebuyers to a showing and their courteous manner won over the sellers. "(The sellers) were sick of rude and nasty people walking into the house, and these people just seemed so polite in comparison," Bigos told the news source. "They wanted to go with them, even if it cost something." Sellers need to make sure they are offering a friendly experience to homebuyers as well, as the market is full of uncertain consumers. A recent Rasmussen Report found only 47 percent of adults said buying a home is the best investment a family can make. The report also showed just 11 percent of adults said it is a good time to sell in their area, while 72 percent said it is not a good time to sell a house in their area. More News |
