Moving can sometimes be a troubling time for children, but the process can be made easier
Relocating can be a stressful process by itself. Moving with young children or a baby can sometimes add an entire new layer of challenges to the ordeal.
Children - especially infants - require a sense of routine in their lives to prevent things from getting too stressful. During the moving process, it is vital that parents do their best to maintain some sense of familiarity.. For that reason, parents should avoid packing away comfort items - like favorite toys or blankets - that can help a child stay relaxed. Parents should also try to convey a sense of calm, since children will look to them as an example of how to behave in that situation. Child-proofing the new home beforehand will [also] allow children to roam freely and become comfortable with their new surroundings immediately. "Taking a few steps to consider your small child's needs and routine can ease the hectic situation for them and you," said Humboldt Storage and Moving president James Sullivan. Transporting a family and their belongings to their new home can also be stressful. By renting a portable storage device, parents might be able to free up some room in the car and keep their children comfortable.
