Anna Wintour, the famous editor of Vogue, may soon be working out of the new development on Ground Zero
Conde Nast, the company that publishes Vogue, GQ, and Glamour, will reportedly lease space in New York's new World Trade Center tower when it is completed.
Two sources with knowledge of the deal told the New York Times that the company has signed a tentative deal to lease between 900,000 to 1 million square feet of space at 1 World Trade Center, which is still undergoing construction and should be complete by 2013. The tower is being developed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Conde Nast would likely not move until at least 2014. If Conde Nast does make the move official, they would become the new skyscraper's largest private tenant. The publishing company has been an influential tenant at its previous headquarters at 4 Times Square, and some experts told the paper that their relocation to Ground Zero might spur other private companies to consider moving there. "This represents a game-changing transformation of Lower Manhattan into a hub for creative industries, not just for financial services," Robert Yaro of the Regional Plan Association told the Times. The New York Daily News also recently announced their relocation to Lower Manhattan.
