Follow these strategies to keep costs down while moving
Using a few simple strategies allow people to move to a new home with minimal hassle and cost.
U.S. News and World Report suggested that people on the move should make a packing checklist to ensure that responsibilities are met on time, saving stress and the cost of last-minute fees. A well-researched moving company should be hired well ahead of time, a move-in date should be set weeks in advance, and utilities and services should be switched over long before the move, the article said. Movers with a lot of belongings can use the relocation as an opportunity to downsize, saving money on moving costs and also getting rid of much of the clutter from their old home. Once a mover has all their belongings gathered, the paper suggested taking a detailed inventory of all household possessions. This list will come in handy when purchasing moving insurance, as well as homeowners insurance. This brings up a common mistake that many movers make: not buying moving insurance. The protection saves money in the long run, covering homeowners in the case that any of their possessions are damaged or lost while being moved.
