Tenants in one California city will receive financial help when they move
The California city of San Jacinto has bought a block of residential units on South State Street and will provide moving assistance to the tenants currently living there.

About 26 people - 15 adults and 11 children - will have to move after the city bought 10 rental units located on 4.71 acres of land on South State Street, reported Riverside's Press-Enterprise. The city bought four lots of land on that spot for $575,000 but announced that it has set aside some money to help those misplaced tenants move into new homes. In total, it the land purchase and relocation will cost the city about $900,000, said the paper.

Per the agreement, the tenants will be notified at least 90 days before they have to move and will be given financial assistance no greater than $5,250 each and moving advice. Most expressed to the newspaper their desire to stay in the San Jacinto area. The city will re-zone the land for commercial and industrial use, said the report.

When it comes time to move, those misplaced tenants could consider renting out a portable storage unit to transfer their possessions to their new home.ADNFCR-3511-ID-19923077-ADNFCR
