Young adults finding freedom in their own homes
As the economic and employment dynamics in the country begin to shift upward, many young people will finally be able to move out on their own, according to Bloomberg. The millions of people that were forced to move back in with parents or relatives, unable to find work, are finally able to afford relocation services and head out on their own.
"The moving-back-in-with-Mom-and-Dad phenomenon is creating a growing backlog of pent-up households," Charles Lieberman, chief investment officer with Advisors Capital Management, told the news source. The shift in living demands will not only help the housing market, it will improve profits for contractors, cable companies and municipalities, according to the news source. Experts estimate that out of the 20 million adult children that live with their parents, between 750,000 and 1 million new households will be created this year, up from a mere 357,000 in 2010. Divorcees are also expected to make an impact on the market as the economy improves, no longer putting off their desired move due to economic inability. Thirty-eight percent of people considering a divorce in 2011 put off their plans because of the recession, according to the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia. More News |
